Michael Calabrese has over 40 years of professional business writing and government relations experience. He has strong knowledge of government, international business, climate change, energy generation, and Information Technologies. Specialties include RFP response and requirements creation, business plans for equity investment, high technology green business start-ups, and marketing plans.
Michael has surpassed the $220 million mark in federal, state, and local government contract and grant awards. His IT technology experience includes contract wins for ERP solutions and custom applications implementation including federal financials, HRMS, and fixed Assets; military weapons and control systems; advanced climate solutions; energy technologies; custom solutions in emergency management; DoD logistics and warehouse management; and business continuity. Major contract awards include: US EPA, EEOC, DoD (USN, USAF, and Army), DLA, DOJ, and Department of State. Grant Awards include NSF, Department of Energy, USDA/SBIR, Enterprise Ireland, and numerous private foundation awards in social services.
Michael also has served as a consultant to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MOMRA); University of Salisbury, Maryland; and multiple municipal government organizations to develop RFP requirements to meet his client’s needs.
Earlier in his career, Michael was Manager for Information Services and Assistant Project Manager at EPA under contract with Labat-Anderson Incorporated. He was the primary contact coordinating public outreach and document distribution in a multi-client environment – maintaining effective communication and project management between 56 offices and over 200 agency contacts. Point of escalation for all customer service issues for US EPA and EEOC (1999-2005).
From 2004-2005, Michael managed the EPA’s National Service Center for Environmental Publications’ largest distribution project of 4.17 million publications to 167,000 addresses, reducing postage costs by $155,000.
Also during 2004-2005, Michael provided project management as POC for US EPA’s mission to restore the Iraq Ministry of Environment. He coordinated EPA evaluation and shipment of publications from 17 US EPA Offices supplying science data, standards and methods and Records of Decision to the Ministry.
