Nancy Gilbride

Senior Advisor for Healthcare

Nancy is a Senior Healthcare Leader with 34 years in the healthcare industry, including expertise in pharmacy benefits management (PBM), federal and state healthcare programs and government contracting.  Nancy has led multi-billion-dollar healthcare operations, directed large-scale government contracts, and built high-performing teams dedicated to improving healthcare access and affordability of pharmaceuticals for patients and plan sponsors.

While her expertise spans all payor segments, she is particularly distinguished for her work in serving the healthcare needs of active-duty military members, those retired, veterans, federal employees and their families.  As President of the Federal Pharmacy Services Division at Express Scripts, Nancy was responsible for a $10 billion division, overseeing 3,000 employees who supported the DoD’s TRICARE pharmacy program and the U.S Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Federal Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) contracted plans.

Her experience includes executive level education and consensus building on doing business with these programs, business development, strategic planning, capture team leadership, contract phase-in and ongoing growth, organizational transformation, operational performance, risk mitigation, and contract administration.    She led the successful enterprise-wide bids for several next generation DoD contracts, the most recent valued at $63.2 billion over seven years, and oversaw its successful $60 million implementation.  She has driven the transformation of business systems to achieve compliance with federal contracts, resulting in risk reduction and revenue improvement, while maintaining commercial flexibility.  She also oversaw a $44 million claims platform migration, mapping complex requirements and processes over to the new system without event.

Her work also includes developing, implementing and executing strategies to save federal agencies budget dollars, along with their beneficiaries.  Over a nearly ten-year period and in support of the NDAA, her leadership grew the most cost-effective government channel for receiving prescriptions, with a cumulative $2 billion in government savings and $250 million in beneficiary savings.

Additionally, she has held senior executive roles with other major Fortune 50 healthcare companies.  This includes serving as the Chief Growth Officer for CarelonRx (the prescription benefit unit of Elevance Health) with accountability for all markets including integrated commercial and government (Medicaid and Medicare) business.  She also served as the CEO of Envolve and Senior Vice President of Centene, where she led a $11 billion comprehensive suite of healthcare services for the company’s multiple Medicaid, ACA and Medicare health plans across the country.  In both roles, she was charged with significantly improving revenue growth and healthcare operation turnarounds.

Nancy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy and a Master’s degree and Residency training in Hospital Pharmacy Administration, both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
