Synopsis

The Bridging Immigration-Related Deficits Experienced Nationwide (BIDEN) Reimbursement Fund, established by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, Public Law 119-21, Title X, Subtitle A, Part II (codified at 34 U.S.C. § 61101), authorizes the Department of Justice to provide grants to eligible state and local governments for law enforcement activities related to aliens who have committed crime(s) under federal, state, or local law, in addition to being unlawfully present in the United States (hereafter referred to as “criminal illegal aliens”), as well as combating drug and human trafficking. This funding opportunity will support costs incurred by the Government of the District of Columbia related to the purchase and installation of law enforcement safe housing and street cameras and related technology, such as license plate readers, that enhance efforts to prevent and investigate crime. Other allowable uses of funds may include award activities related to data storage, subscriptions, and operation and maintenance directly associated with the previously referenced purchase and installation of law enforcement safe housing and street cameras and related technology. The Safe Housing and Street Camera Program will support the collection and analysis of law enforcement investigative information to counter gang and other criminal activity.
