Kimberly Scheer

Kimberly Scheer is a seasoned grant writer with a proven track record of securing numerous federal, state, and foundation grants across multiple sectors including workforce development, healthcare, and education. 

As an undergraduate student, she was drawn to Labor and Workplace Studies as a lens for understanding the adversities faced by her Irish immigrant grandfather in 1940s and 1950s Boston. These studies led her to early career work in workforce development in San Diego, where she wrote grants for community development, workforce training, economic research. As Kimberly’s grant writing career evolved, she wrote successful workforce development proposals serving K-14 students, special populations, K-12 educators, healthcare professionals, and others. 

Over the past two years, Kimberly has secured more than $20 million in grant awards focused on workforce development from state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), U.S. Department of Justice, California Department of Education, and the California Community Colleges K-12 Strong Workforce Program. Specifically, Kimberly won $4 million for the DOL Employment and Training Administration’s Growth Opportunity Program, $4.2 million for the DOL Strengthening Community Colleges Training workforce program, and $5 million for the DOL Employment and Training Administration’s Building Pathways to Infrastructure Jobs program, among others.  

Kimberly holds Bachelor of Arts degrees with high honors in English and in Communication Studies, with a Specialization in Labor and Workplace Studies, from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also holds a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at IUPUI.
